“Courageous” Family Discussion Guide

It was an awesome night of food, fun and fellowship at SLW tonight as we watched the movie Courageous.

As a church, we are committed to seeing our families become all they can be in Jesus; and tonight was a great opportunity and challenge to really become the family and people God wants us to be.

If you joined us tonight, hopefully you had a chance to grab one of the Family Discussion guides. If you didn't get one or missed the movie night, here are the questions from the guide. I encourage you to spend some time after watching the movie to walk through this guide as a couple or as families.

See you on Sunday for our next installment of "Not So...Modern Family."

--------------------------

Now that you’ve seen the movie, we encourage you to discuss it and what impact it might have on your family in the future.

1) Which movie character did you most identify with? Why?

2) Priorities shape our family dynamics and our relationship with God. How did changing priorities impact families in the movie?

3) What are your top 5 priorities as a family?

4) What areas need to shift for your family to honor God more?

5) Adversity can pull a family apart or bring them together. Discuss an example of this in the movie.

6) How has adversity affected your family?

7) What are 2 things you can do now to position your family to support and encourage each other through adversity?

8) The characters in the movie demonstrated a spectrum of values. [i.e. integrity, dishonesty, greed, selflessness, etc.] Some were good. Some were harmful. Talk about some specific examples from the movie.

9) What values currently define your family?

10) How do they align with God’s values articulated in the Bible?

Join us on Sunday at 8:15, 9:40 or 11:00 as we continue in our “Not So…Modern Family” series and explore what to do when family doesn’t turn out quite like we expected. [www.slwchurch.org]
